How to upgrade Windows 11 Home to Pro with a key

You do not need to reinstall. A Pro key unlocks the extra features, and your files and apps stay. It is still wise to back up first.

What you need

A Windows 11 Pro key, internet and 10 minutes.

Steps

  1. Open Settings, then System, then Activation.
  2. Click Change product key.
  3. Enter your Pro key and click Next.
  4. Confirm the upgrade and let the PC restart.

If an error appears

Disconnect VPNs and try again. If the key is refused, see activation errors.

Will I lose my files?
