Remote Desktop in Windows Pro: how to turn it on and connect

Remote Desktop lets you use your PC from another device.

Home or Pro

Home can connect to other PCs. Only Pro can receive connections.

Step 1: turn it on

Open System, then Remote Desktop, and switch it on.

Step 2: keep the PC reachable

Stop it from sleeping, and note its name.

Step 3: connect

On another PC open Remote Desktop Connection and enter the name.

Connecting over the internet

Use a VPN to your network. Do not expose the RDP port directly.
