How to upgrade Windows 10 Home to Pro with a key

Upgrading takes about ten minutes and needs no reinstall.

Prepare

Save your work, back up important files and connect to the internet.

Upgrade in Settings

1. Open Settings, then Update & Security, then Activation.
2. Click Change product key.
3. Enter the Pro key and click Next.
4. Click Start and wait for the restart.

If the key is not accepted

Try this in an administrator terminal: changepk.exe /productkey followed by your key.

What you get after the upgrade

BitLocker, Remote Desktop host, Hyper-V and Group Policy.
