Microsoft Visio and Project: who needs them and which version to pick
Neither is part of Office. They are separate apps with their own keys.
Who needs Visio
Anyone drawing process maps, network diagrams and office plans.
Who needs Project
Project managers with schedules, resources and Gantt charts.
2024 or 2021
2024 has the longer support. 2021 costs less. Support dates are on Microsoft’s lifecycle pages.
One-time licence or cloud plan
One-time keys need no subscription. Cloud plans suit teams that work in the browser.
Before you buy
Both need Windows. Match bitness with Office, and remove older versions.
Can Excel replace Project?
For a small list, yes. For dependencies and resources, Project is far easier.
